The key differences are:

No! While it is a code-based solution, it's designed for merchants. The process involves copying and pasting files and code blocks.

Yes. The "Per-Option Pricing" feature is a core part of Specifikit. For any option, you can add a positive (e.g., +$15.00 for premium fabric) or negative price modifier. The total price updates instantly on the product page as the customer makes selections.
Yes. Specifikit is designed for universal compatibility and works with all modern Shopify 2.0 themes (like Dawn, Impulse, Prestige) as well as older themes. Because we include free installation, our team will ensure it integrates perfectly with your specific theme's structure.
No. Performance is our #1 priority. Specifikit is built with a performance-first architecture. By installing directly into your theme and avoiding heavy, external app dependencies, it is significantly faster than most app-based solutions. All assets are highly optimized and loaded efficiently to protect your page speed and Core Web Vitals.
Since Specifikit is installed into your theme code, it does not automatically transfer to a new theme. However, the process is simple: you just repeat the installation steps in your new theme. All your product configuration data is stored in metafields, which are tied to your products (not the theme), so you will not lose any of your work.
We can also handle re-installation on a new theme for a small service fee.
Partially, and in a very smart way. We use variants for core attributes that require separate inventory tracking, like "Size". However, for all other options (color, material, engraving, etc.), we use line item properties.
This hybrid approach gives you the best of both worlds: you get Shopify's native inventory management where it matters, while breaking free from the 100-variant limit for all your other creative options.
It's simple:
A Regular License is for use on a single end product (one Shopify store) which you or one client owns.
An Extended License is for use on unlimited end products (unlimited Shopify stores). This is the correct license for developers or agencies who intend to use Specifikit for multiple client projects.

Support does not include custom development (adding a new, unique feature for your store) or extensive design modifications beyond what the theme editor settings provide.
